A Change at Patients First…

Written by DrMcConnell on December 4, 2009 – 3:14 pm -

At the end of the year, I will be leaving Patients First to start a new practice.  It has been an honor and pleasure to serve you, and I thank you for your trust and confidence in your care.  The new practice, Trinity Healthcare, is a non-profit Christian Ministry that serves those without health insurance or access to healthcare.  Patients may follow me in the new practice if they choose.

Because the practice is a non-profit entity, it will operate differently than a traditional practice.  A very limited number of patients will be accepted in order to maximize service to those in need. If you would like more information about how you can be a part of this exciting new practice, visit the website: www.TrinityHC.org. For those current patients of mine at Patients First, Dr Berland and the rest of the staff will continue to provide health care. You may need to change your primary care doctor to him, and the staff will help you with this during your next office visit.

I wish you well, and thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
Jeremy D. McConnell, MD

We are beginning to incorporate online requests for appointments

Written by PFAdmin on February 5, 2009 – 1:02 pm -

To request an appointment online, please email appointment@patients-first.com.   Please note that even though she checks her emails several times per day, the email method isn’t the most appropriate way to request same day appointments

Your prescription medications can now be refilled by email

Written by PFAdmin on February 5, 2009 – 1:01 pm -

To do so, email us at refills@patients-first.com.  Please make sure that you leave us all pertinent information, including name, date of birth, your phone number, medication, dose, frequency, and pharmacy number.  We will make every effort to complete the request within 48 hours.  Please note that we will not fill antibiotics without an office visit.  For some medications, we must first see you to make sure that the medications are safely doing their job. This may require labs and/or physical examination.  We will not be checking email over the weekend.  If you don’t receive a confirmation email within 48 hours, please call to make sure that we have received your email .

72 hours are required to complete all referrals and authorizations.

Written by PFAdmin on February 5, 2009 – 1:01 pm -

If there are emergencies, we will do our best to accommodate your request. These requests often cannot be completed without speaking with a representative from your insurance company, and sometimes their medical director must have a conversation with one of our physicians.  Most insurance companies have a policy in place, stating that if you don’t have the referral completed when you see the physician, get your radiology study, etc, then you will be held responsible for all charges.  You can call us and follow the phone prompts to leave a message with our Medical Assistants, or email us at refills@patients-first.com
